Original: 12" x 16" canvas board, completed 8/18/94. I took some magnificent photos of a male cardinal from my bedroom window in winter 1994. This painting is based on one of those photos. I entered it at the Erie County Fair in 1996, my first Fair entry ever and it won a special award.

Female Cardinal
Original: 12" x 16" canvas board, completed 9/22/94. In spring 1994, I got some great photos of a female cardinal. Actually, for some reason, she kept attacking my bedroom window - but I snapped a few photos when she perched in the tree between attacks! I did this painting immediately after the male.

Blue Jay
Original: 12" x 16" canvas board, completed 6/16/94. My favorite local songbird is the blue jay. I did this painting intended as an anniversary gift for my grandparents in July 1994. Of course, they loved it and it hung in their house until they died. Now I have it again.

Willy (Goffin Cockatoo)
Original: 12" x 16" canvas board, completed 5/9/96. I had a Goffin cockatoo named Willy from 1994 to 1998. I finally found her a new home in 1998, because I just didn't have the time to give her the attention she needed.

Sulphur Crested Cockatoo
Original: 12" x 16" canvas board, completed 4/21/94. My favorite in the cockatoo family, with its yellow head crest that rises at will. This was my first cockatoo painting.

Original: 12" x 16" canvas board, completed 7/7/94. My second painting of a sulphur crested. I didn't think this one turned out as good as the first one, but while working on it, I met the person who would introduce me to my future cockatoo, Willy.
