Bald Eagle on a Limb
Original 24" x 30", oil on stretch canvas, completed 3/26/09. My 2nd painting of 2009 (and my 73rd painting since 1993) this is a large scale version of the same eagle as in my 2008 painting "Out on a Limb" (hence the play on the title). Original reference photo was taken by myself at Hawk Creek in 2008.

Original 12" x 16", oil on stretch canvas, completed 1/22/09. My first painting of 2009, this is just a simple head study based on (yet another) photo of Canyon, my favorite golden eagle model from Hawk Creek.

"Out on a Limb"
Original 20" x 24", stretch canvas, completed 10/9/08. My 70th painting! Done from a combination of an eagle photo I took at Hawk Creek in July 2008, and a photo I took of a distant storm front in August 2008. Thanks to Maryann for the concept and the title! This painting was also partially inspired by the Autumn's Grey Solace song "Mystify".

Golden Eagle at Twilight
Original 24" x 36", oil on stretch canvas, completed 7/31/08. Meant to be a bookend to last year's "Bald Eagle at Twilight" - the idea is that they'll be on the wall facing each other! Based on a photo taken by my father at last year's Skyhunters Birds of Prey exhibit at America's County Fair. Much like "Bald Eagle at Twilight", this painting was also influenced by the music of Robert Rich, particularly the tracks "Night Sky Replies" and "Liquid Air".

Golden Eagle - "Ethereal"
Original 16" x 20", oil on stretch canvas, completed 1/17/08. My first painting completed in 2008, and my third painting of "Canyon", one of Hawk Creek's resident golden eagles! Based on a photo taken by my father, I wanted this one to have an atmospheric effect akin to one of my other paintings, "Golden Eagle - Watching the Sky". This painting won an "honorable mention" at the 2008 America's County Fair.
